crab smell

Hi, my hermit crab has all of a sudden developed a old seafood type smell for the past few days and I was hoping you would know why?  She was out of her shell two days ago when being rinsed under the water and now she's started smelling.  Help?  Is my crab dying or molting?

Has she been moving around? It's never a good sign for a crab to smell fishy. When she was out of the shell did you rinse it out well? There could be old food stuck in there. Does the smell get progressively stronger?

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do but watch and wait but if the smell keeps getting stronger there isn't a lot you can do.

What kind of water do you offer?
