How do hermit crabs reproduce?

Hermit crabs mate and the female lays eggs in the ocean. The baby hermit live in the ocean for several weeks feeding on  plankton. Then they leave the water and crawl onto the beach and find their first shells. They are still very small then. Pea size and smaller.
