Question
hi vicki,
i recently got 3 land hermit crabs and i am wondering why they do not seem to be eating. ive had them for about 2 weeks and dont know what to do. i have the pellet food and i break it up into chunks and put it in their dish. i normally put 3 pellets in their a day and it doesnt seem to be reducing after 2-3 days at all. im worried that if they arent eating they coud die. i have also tried small peices of apple, carrot, and broccoli. that doesnt seem to work either.
can you help???

Answer
Hi Rick,

It's best to throw out the pellets. Most store bought food for hermit crabs contain harmful ingredients. There is a land hermit crab food site that you should check out. There's safe and unsafe food lists that you can print out or bookmark for future use.

Since they are also semi-new they may be destressing right now and not interested in eating. Make sure your conditions in the tank are correct. Here's a hermit crab forum you can feel free to check out and even chat with fellow crabbers.
