Question
hi my crab of 2 months maybe, seems to be dead? or is he...he wont come out of his shell. i dipped him in water and he wont pop out like usual? thier is a little smell i think? but his claw will close very slow if i put a piece of paper inbetween it...whats going on..?

Answer
If his claw closes, he isn't dead, but it IS possible he may be sick. What is your tank set up? His behavior could be from stress, depression from not having another hermit crab in his tank, he could possibly be cold, but then again, a slight smell could mean he is too hot, If you could tell me more about your tank, I would be able to tell you what's going on. Did you handle him a lot when you first got him? You should leave hermit crabs alone for the first two weeks so they can settle down, it's possible that if you have handled him everyday since you got him, he hasn't had a chance to settle down. I would like for you to tell me more about what your tank is like so I can tell you what's wrong with him.
