A New Crab

Question
Hi,
I bought a new crab to replace the dead crab. I am not sure why it always isolate itself from other crabs and spends most of its time hiding inside its shell or in the substrate. It won't even eat anything. I a little worried about it.

Answer
When a new crab comes home it often has something called PPS or Post Purchase Stress. It's normal but it is also a vunerable time for your crab. Always adopt a "hands off" policy for the first month your crab is at home. Try to entice him to eat with some tasty favorites, popcorn, shrimp, banana or make banana popcornshrimp!

Warm coconut is also a favorite, anything stinky. He may also be eating at night when you aren't around to see him.

Good luck!
