Question
hmm this is kinda weird quagmire (my hermit crab) has lost his pincher and i think he is molting does pincher loss and molting usually happen together?

Answer
Hi,
thank you for your question.
Pincher loss shouldn't occur at all with a healthy, non-stressed srab. It's always a bad sign. Molting is very stressful for them and if anything goes wrong or if they are disturbed, they can drop legs or pinchers during the process. As long as no futher legs are dropped, it's not such a big problem, they can easily regrow limbs.
There is not much you can do except keeping the conditions right and leaving the crab alone as much as possible. Offer food high in calcium and chitin, like krill, dead mealworms or crickets, brine shrimp, mushrooms, extra cuttlebone ect. to help him compensate for the lost pincher.
