Question
Hi, we talked before about Crabby. He is sick right now. One of his legs fell off and he just sits in the salt water dish,For 3 days! i had him for4 years and he was allway healty, mean and active! in these 4 years the temp. and the humidity have not changed so i dont think thats the problem. 2 crabs before died one day after loss of leg so i think he might live is there any thing i can do to help him and make him more comfterable? He may have goten stressed. i moved him up a little higher up on my self. He has food and water what could be wrong.

Answer
Just because your crab has managed to survive for a long time in poor temp/humidity doesn't mean that they are not the cause of the crabs death. Poor humidity could also weaken your crab over time and create a situation where he was unable to recover as well from injury or illness. Sitting in the water dishes is a good indication of low humidity (they are trying to keep their gills moist) or of the temperature being too hot (over 90 degrees). As long as he is somewhat active you do not have to isolate him. If he goes dormant you should isolate him in a small enclosure that either sits inside your main tank or is set up to maintain the proper environmental markers.
