Hi lola
you might rember me from my hermit crab project any way i got a A thank
you for your help. Anyway one of my Hermit crabs has been standing in the
salt water for about an hour and I heard that they need salt water to mate and
i have 7 crabs a mix of boys and girls and I was wondering What to do if I get
babies and do they need shells right away and if so where do I get tiny shells?

Hermit crabs do not reproduce in captivity I'm afraid. So you do not have to worry about tiny shells. What is more likely is that your crab is getting close to molting, it is common for them to spend time in the salt water when they are about to molt.
