Question
I found my daughter's hermit crab shell this morning empty in his cage.  I can't find the crab though.  I looked in the other shells and don't see him.  Do they bury themselves to molt without their shell?

Answer
hello no hermits bury themselfs with there shells to mout...perhaps he went "streaking" and passed away while he was out of shell its quite common amount hermit crabs thou it had never happened to my 20 crabs (all were rehomed...not the pet for me they did NOT die) are you sure he isnt in his shell under the bedding a tiny crab is easy to miss in deep bedding.
