Hermit crab quantity

Hi,
I have 1 medium sized hermit crab. He looks fine, but is it mandatory that i get a second one for him to be around? Also his cage wouldn't be able to fit 2 crabs.....So do i have to have a second land hermit crab?

You really do. I have seen it myself how a crab perks up when you get him a buddy. They are more active, eat more, and their color is better. It really is a necessity. If you are worried about purchasing a new tank, try looking for a used 10 gallon at garage sales, most of them have one sitting around.
