QuestionWhy do hermit crabs live in shells left by other animals?
AnswerLauren, Hermit crabs do not create their own shells and have have soft unarmored abdomens. They don't just live in shells. I have read stories about them crawling into other things. One crawled into a light piece of aluminum tube on a boat for quite awhile before they found him and gave him a shell. Which it was very glad to climb right back into. Tina
