My hermie has lost his pincher

Question
My hermie (bert) has lost his armored claw. I've him and superman for about a month now. However, recently superman as one through a growth spurt and is about twice the size of bert. Could the loss of a claw be through a fight between them? I found bert's claw and it looks like i didn't come of at a joint. I can't get bert to come out of his shell for me right now (which is to be expected after loosing his big claw i guess) so i can't tell if he has mites. And since i'm betting you're wondering this.. I do try and keep the humitity at about 80% (some times it slips down to 65) and the tempurature is around 75 F in he day and 70 F in the night time. Whats the probibility they're killing each other?  Or do u think i'm killing them? :(

Answer
I do not think you are killing them at all. I think you sound like a very responsible owner. Do they have similar types of shells. If you think that the claw was pinched off that sounds like typical shell aggression. I would order a good assortment of shells that that species of crab likes. Start with the kind of shell he's in, but bigger. Then give him plenty of shells to choose from, dipped in salt water and placed opening up.  Once he's changed shells he should calm down.
