QuestionI know that hermit crabs pee out of their antennas,right? well i just got my hermit crab and he has "leaked" all over my hand four times in 3 days. Do you know the cause of it? is it pee? what should i do? this is my first hermit crab and i only have one. it has a small habitat but will be changed into bigger one. i am only feeding him hermit crab food from a company called "ZooMed". i have heard of cases like this before but was unanswered. he is also a ver big hermit crab. please help.
AnswerIt's nothing to worry about. Hermit Crabs carry water inside their shells to keep their abdomens moist. They get it out of your water dishes. When a crab is startled it will withdraw quickly and often expel some of this water. It is harmless and doesn't hurt your crab at all. Just make sure your crab has access to salt and fresh water dishes deep enough to get water into their shells.
