QUESTION: I have a hermit crab and I want to know what speices it is. I bought it at the beach in Ocean City New Jersey on the boardwalk it is a land hermit crab. It as crean skin an orange legs with tiny black dots.-Thanks Tim

It sounds like you have a Coenobita Clypeatus or "Purple Pincher". It sounds like he is pale which is commone for pet store PPs' but I would feed him some purple seaweeds, spirulina, and shrimp to help increase his color. It's possible he's getting ready to molt and will have better color when he emerges.
