Sea water

Hello,
I am driving up to the beach this weekend and I was considering bringing sand. This is safe right? A friend of mine was telling me that I should bring the sand soaked with sea water. Is this a good idea? Also, I want to bring a couple of gallons of sea water (I'm tired of buying it from the store). Is all this stuff safe?

Unfortunately no, it's probably not safe. Beaches aren't sanitized, like playsand from a store is. It could have many bugs or bacteria in it. Same goes for the water.

You may be able to bake the sand, but there's no guarantee to kill off everything or anything in there. As for the sea water, pass on it for the safety of your hermit crabs and continue getting it from the store.
