Question
this is my first time having a hermit crab. i had 3 to begin with. the first one died about a week ago. Today, i found my other hermit crab dead. I saw tiny white bugs crawling out from his shell. Could they have possibly kill him? i am not sure what to do now, because i do not want my other one to die. i am not sure if they are mites or not, But i really need some advice on what to do.

Answer
It is hard to say but even hermit crabs are only susceptable to mites when they are molting. Change out all the substrate and sterilize the hide-y items. Wash the tank out very thoroughly and give the remaining crab/s a salt water bath a few times a day for 3 days before putting in the new substrate.
