Questionwell I went into this small store and It had allot of reptiles and I checked If they had any hermit crabs and the lady said yes. so she braing me over to the tank they had them in and oh boy did they mistreat them!!! well 1 they didn't even had a light source or heat mat! 2 they were in a 1/2 inch deep of Eco earth so they couldn't molt.3 their were leg's on the bedding.4 their were no alive their were shells faced down and no sign of life .5 no decorations or anything organic to climb on except for a wire lader.6 they didn't offer salt water.and 7 they had the correct temp., humidity,and environment,thing labeled on a piece of paper right next to the tank and they didn't even had anything right.So how do I ask them politely the correct way of a hermit,s need.
AnswerThat's a great question and it's much more difficult that it seems. The best bet is to be a regular customer and get to know the owners. You might also take them the care sheets from the Crab Street Journal. Always compliment them first. Say something like "I see that you take really good care of your (example) Iguana, I was wondering if you would be interested in a care sheet for the hermit crab. With just a few extra things that you already have in the store your hermit crabs would live longer and you would be able to sell more accessories to go with them. Always be friendly, never overstay your welcome.
