Question
Hi, we have a hermit crab (Gary male?) he has left his shell and lost a leg he looked dead so we isolated him from our other crab(Flower girl?) we put him in a box (lost his color, no movement) and we were going to bury him but now he has perked up a bit we have put him in a small habitat and gave him a bath and are now waiting. Any suggestions, we've had them for almost a year and recently my wife has not kept the habitat as humid as normal we live in the high desert temp in habitat approx 60 humidity was 50. thx in advance

Answer
Humidity are crucial to your crabs health as are fresh and salt water pools that are deep enough for your crab to climb into. Lack of activity can come from improper tank conditions or from an impending molt. I would recommend correcting the tank conditions as soon as possible and creatin a 12/12 light cycle with a low wattage sunglo bulb.
