red, irritated skin around eye

Hi Matt,

I noticed today that my son's guinea pig's eye looks red and irritated.  Not the eye, but the skin around the eye.  Any suggestions?  Do they sell ointment at a pet store to put on the skin?

The irritation around the eye could be a number of things, and I would be afraid to have you go buy some ointment at the pet store not knowing what the problem was. If you can get the guinea pig to a veterinarian, they can prescribe something that will be much more effective than anything you'll find at a pet store, and they'll be able to correctly identify the problem.
