Question
We have recently bought two female piggies from our local pet shop, after three days one was found to be bleeding slightly from her bits, took her to the vet who prescribed some antibiotics two weeks after that she has become rather round and plump, do you think she might be pregnant, as the other one is still as she was when she came to us.

Answer
Hello Tanya,

She could be pregnant, however bleeding is not normal during pregnancy so she is having complications. It is also possible that she has a tumor or ovarian cysts. The treatment for either of these is typically spaying. I would advise taking her back to the vet to check for either a pregnancy, tumor, or cysts. She has a good chance of recovery from a tumor or cysts after spayng and for a pregnancy, well you'll have pups in a few weeks. Special care will need to be taken during her pregnancy especially since she was bleeding. Good luck. If you need anything else, let me know.
