Hi, my male piggy has got brown crusty stuff around his nose and mouth.I have heard that you can use daktarin oral gel,but i thought this was only used on human babys,is it true that i can use that type of gel,he is still eating well and drinking but i am still worried can you help in answering my question thanks from janet
-----Answer-----
If the crust around his nose is caused by drainage then he most likely has an upper respiratory infection, which I have the treatment for on my website, http://woopets.bravehost.com  . He shouldn't have any fungus in his mouth, but check the inside of the mouth for any sores, or see if there are any sores on the outside of the lip, in this case it could be due to a virus found in guinea pigs, or fighting with a cage mate. Let meknow if you have any more questions.

Answer
Try taking a warm damp washcloth and gently soaking the areas with warm water, it should come off easily, if it doesn't want to come off though, you can use a tiny bit of Dial soap on the area, do not get it in the nose or mouth though, then rinse with the washcloth, and make sure to get all of the soap off.
