Vitamin C Intake

Question
I just adopted two female guinea pigs on Saturday and i am concerned about their vitamin C intake. They only like to eat carrots, apples and radish tops so far, i have tried kiwi, banana and cucumber but they will not eat those. I wanted to know if there was a danger in feeding them too many carrots
during the day, and i also wanted to know what other foods can i try on
them that they may eat. And just in case what kind of vitamin C
supplement can i give them that they would most likely eat. Thanks for receiving my question..looking forward to hearing from you.

Answer
Hi kim

The first thing you can do is to use a dry pellet food with added vitamin c. Most brands have it in already so this will supply the neccesary vit c for your two piggies.

Common thought says that you cant feed too many carrots, although some say you can feed too much vitamin c. For these reasons, I would suggest 2-3 servings of carrots per week is good. Plus, variety is better for your pigs too.

You can feed more or less any veggie, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and fruits in small doses too.

I hope that helps. Please write back if you have any further questions.
