what are the first signs to tell if my cavy is pregnant?

Hi Kiki,

    During a guinea pig's first pregnancy, it may be hard to tell when she is pregnant until a few weeks before delivery.  However, you may notice slight weight gain or a slight swelling around the abdomen, as well as an increased appetite.  She may also become more hostile to your touch or the touch of another guinea pig, although a cagemate is ideal to promote mental stimulation and comfort during pregnancy.

    If your sow is older than eight months and she may be pregnant, please send a followup question because the pregnancy may be unsafe.
