BIRTH OF THE BABIES

Question
So im almost 16 and i love guinea pigs. I love breeding them and weh had six. I recently got a job at a pet store and these guinea pigs were brought in. I noticed on Sunday the 15th that she was looking quite plump. I took her out and brung her home. She seems to be really active. I just have no idea when she conceived or when she was even born. I never felt a pelvic bone before. Also, these babies are kicking all over. She drinks water ALOT. So basically what i am asking is how can i feel the pelvic bone and if you had any pictures of what i should look for. Lastly, I would like to know when you think she will have her days based on a prediction.    I have had many mamma guineas before but i have only witnessed one guinea pig birth. Yeah so get back to me ASAP THANKS

Answer
Jonathan,
About 3 weeks from due date the babies will start moving around. As it comes closer to the due date they will move less as they are bigger and by that point the mom is about as plump as she can handle. You need an estimate of her age. If she is over 8 months and has never given birth, you need to be prepared for a chance of needing an emergency C-section. Have an emergency kit ready just in case. In it have a small plastic box, 6 or more hand cloths, baby aspirator or an eye dropper that won't be needed any time soon, an emergency vet phone number, and a heating pad (if possible), although birth usually happens between 5 PM to 9 AM. If you have any more questions, please ask.
