I have long haired and just bought a short haired.my question is about my long haired everything gets stuck in his hair.can i cut hair round his butt?i give him a bath 2 a month because he smells. he really is beginning to like it.when he hears the water now he thinks he is getting a bath and he sings to me...

You can certainly cut a long haired cavy's hair.  In fact, for the non-showing owner, it is a recommended action, because it is so difficult to keep the long haired coat clean and presentable.  Just be careful you don't cut too close to the skin and 'nick' him.  They won't cooperate with a haircut if you do that even once.
