QuestionHi I have had my female guinea pig for quite a few months, and not long ago I noticed she was bleeding. It lasted no more than 2 days, and I couldn't work out why. During that time she was behaving as normal, eating, drinking and looked in no pain (and is as usual since), so I was wondering do female guinea pigs have periods, or could it be something serious? Thanks !

I have to admit that on this one, I was completely stumped. I contacted some friends/breeders, and they didn't really know, either. However, I was advised to let you know that anytime you find blood in a guinea pig's cage, its a good idea to take the animal to a vet and have it checked for bladder and kidney problems - blood can be a sign of a kidney problem.
I realise this probably isn't as much help as you would have liked, but its the best I can do. Let me know if you have any more questions - I'll be glad to assist. Good luck!
