Answer
It is possible that the male is showing his dominance to another male or impressing a female. If they are male and female, then it is probably already too late, and she is pregnant. But it is still a good idea to get the male fixed. Go to the website: http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm and see if they are males or females. You can tell from birth if it is a male or a female, and they can mate as early as age 3 weeks. I would look on that website to see if they are male or female. If one is male and one is female, I would separate them and call your local vet to find someone to get your male fixed (costs around $140-$200). She might already be pregnant. Yes, there are possibilities of death, and breeding is not recommended. Also, every time a piggy gives birth, her life span is shortened. As far as telling if she is pregnant, other than inactivity and excessive water drinking, her belly will become obviously pregnant because it will be twice her size, and bouncing around with active babies by 60 days. The only indication of birth is around 70 days, 48hrs before she gives birth, her pelvis bone (between her legs) will spread to an obvious 1.5 inches. From that point on it is close to show time.  If you think she is pregnant, or have any other questions, let me know! Thanks!
