Question
Nicole:
My GP is four years old. I recently noticed that on one of her front paws, the second pad is turned dark brown. what is it?
Robert

Answer
Hi Robert,

I can think of two possible causes for what you are describing.  One is that something in her environment caused some kind of random genetic expression of brown pigmentation in that paw.  If it looks more like a growth, then it may need medicle attention, in which case a veterinarian who is experienced in the area of guinea pigs must be consulted.  Such a vet could provide a more specific diagnosis and prescription, and with more information about the problem paw I may be able to provide further suggestions as well.

If it seems to be affecting your guinea pig's health and happiness, then before you see a vet you may want to wrap the foot in VetWrap to prevent infection.

Thank you for your question, I hope I have been of some help to you.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Good luck with your guinea pig(=
