Guinea pig itching (bugs?)

My guinea pig scratches constantly around her ears.  I have observed tiny white bugs on each individual hair.  What could this be and how to get rid of them.  It's a long haired variety.

The first thing I would do is to thoroughly bathe the pig in special anti bacterial shampoo you can get for small animals.

Does the pig have any sores as a result of the scratching? If so, the problem may be mites and will need medecine that a vet can give you. I would also consult a vet if the shampoo doesnt work.
