Question
My husband caught a guinea pig going fishing.  She is a sweet heart, so we got a male for the pet store.  Two weeks after the broke out with sores on his back.  I put neosporin on it, it healed and my 1st guinea pig has them 1 month-2months later can you help.

Answer
Hi Theresa,

It sounds to me like your guinea pigs are suffering from fungal infections, which may initially appear as sores on the back.  The fact that they were once cleared up by neosporin also leads me to believe this.  You could continue using this treatment, or one of the several listed towards the bottom of this helpful site:

As this site suggests, fungal infections are commonly brought on by stress and humidity.  Do all you can to make sure that your guinea pigs live in comfortable, room-temperature environments - but this does not mean keep them by a window, because they are very sensitive to changes in temperature and drafts could easily cause upper respiratory infections as well as colds that could develop into more serious illnesses.

Thank you for your question, I  hope I have been of some help to you.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Good luck with your guinea pig (=
