She is a show piggy. she doesnt move a lot and SQUEALS when you get her also how can i get her to trust me? Thanks. Oh ya i got her whe she was being kept with her sisters. Thanks!!!

Answer
Hi Ali.  Would you mind e-mailing me a picture of her?  astrathm@purdue.edu is my e-mail, that will give me a much better indication of her pregnancy.  You'll be able to feel movement before you see it, I rarely see movement.  I always sit them in my lap with a treat to eat and feel for the babies by cupping my hands around her abdomen.  As far as getting her to trust/like you - she must have some veggie she really enjoys (usually carrots are a favorite).  Figure out what veggie that is and don't let her have it for a day or two.  Then bring her the veggie and only let her eat it out of your hand while she is in the cage.  Do this for a few days then only let her have it after you've picked her up and are holding her.  This will get her to want to be held, because she wants that treat.  As far as her squealing, she may just be really vocal.  Most guinea pigs love a good nose rubbing.  See if that calms her down.  You might also try chin rubbing, but since she is new you don't know if she may try to nibble at your fingers.  Be cautious with this one.  She could also be lonely.  Lonliness is something seen more with younger guinea pigs but certainly no age group is excluded.  I hope this helps, and if you can get me a picture I'll have a much better answer for you about the pregnancy issue.  I'll be out of town this weekend but will return promptly Monday am and check for your picture.
