guinea pig constipation

our female guinea pig will be 3 in may.  she seems to be having trouble pooping.....her back half is huge...if i didn't know better...i would think she was very pregnant from the way she looks.....when she has to poop....she lifts her backside up and makes a squealing noise like it hurts.  we have an appt with the vet, but it isn't for 9 days....any suggestions?

9 days is a long time to wait!

Impaction only usually occurs in males so I tend to agree that constipation is the problem.

I can reccomend groundsell and even a tiny amount of liquid parafin but you really should ask for an emergency appointment with the vet if it is as bad as your describe.
