How do you train your guinea pig to go to be potty trained?

Hi. I know that you can "potty train" your guinea pig. (teach it to go  to the restroom in a certain place). Andy, a very helpful expert has said that you SOIL the place you want  it to go. It encourages the gp? Anyway, what does he mean by soiled?

I am not sure what he meant by soiled exactly, but all I do know is when I trained mine - which was successful, I put a patch of straw - which they enjoyed most to " go " on.
Then when they went on it, I cleaned it all of immediately - but anything they did else where I just left - until I did the 'end of the week' clean out.

So all I know is that they will go where it is clean
