Question
My question is:  Is advantage (small dose) safe for guinea pigs and does it work to help control fly egg laying and maggots?

Answer
Jennifer,

Sorry for just now getting back to you with a reply, I've been sick.

Advantage (imidacloprid) is apparently a very safe and effective treatment for cavy lice. Treat by weight and apply topically at 10 mg/pound of body weight (the concentration is 91 mgs/ml, or about 0.1cc/pound [0.24cc/kg]). As for fly egg laying and maggots I am not sure if it controls that but you should never have to worry about that with a Guinea Pig.

I hope this helps,
  Take care,
      Jules
