I have two new guinea pigs...

I have two new guinea pigs and this is the first time I have
ever owned any. How long does it take for them to get
confortable with one another and are able to get along?
Also one of the Guinea pigs is always whining and the other
makes this growling sound can you explain what that is
about?

Hi Nicole,
It may take between 1 week to even a month for them to get used to each other.
If you let them get used to their new surrounding and each other without alot of disruptions, this will happen faster.
Have you checked that they are both the same sex?
Because this could possibly be a mating call. Growling= mating call and the whining could be the female not liking it so much.
I do not know the exact pitch of the guinea-pigs sounds, so I might not be right.
If you can answer my question and send me a follow-up I can get a more accurate answer.
