Question
do you think a dorm room would be too stressful for a guinea pig? It would be a single, bu ti wasn't sure if it would do well. Thanks.

Well, before you run out and buy a guinea pig, make sure they are allowed in your dorm.  Most colleges won't allow pets (especially of the rodent variety.)  However, if your college does allow pets, you'll have to consider carefully the kind of environment it will be in.  If you are constantly throwing parties or playing loud music, a guinea pig is not a good choice.  However, if you (and your roommate) are not inclined to in-room parties, a guinea pig would probably do quite well.  Just please don't forget to take care of it, especially on weekends!  Also, you may want to consider placement.  It's not a good idea to put a guinea pig near a draft, so if you can, place the cage far away from any heat or cooling sources, including fans.
