Question
until what age is it safe to breed them to?  when the babies are born when is it ok to put daddy back?  is it ok to put the male babies with daddy?  how can you tell when mommy is pregnant?  how often should bedding be changed? water? food?  how often should they have fruits and veggies?  i just got my first two guinea pigs yesterday and the reason i'm askin all these questions is the people at the pet shop said my female might be pregnant.   thank you for your time and help.

Answer
Hi,
You can breed them when they are at least 4-5 months old. It might not be a good idea if you put the dad back in because the dad might step on one of the babies trying to get to the mom so he can mate her again. You can put the dad back in when the babies are 4-5 weeks old and are weaned. You can tell if the mom is pregnant by her gaining weight, increase of food and water, and she should be taking on a shape like a football or a light balb. The average gestation period is 61-64 days or 56-74 days. The bedding should be changed every week and their food and water should be changed everyday. They should have greens, veggies, and fruits constanly, oranges are expecially good for them because it provides them with vitamin C. I hope this helps and don't hesitate to ask me any other questions.
