Question
hello! a friend of mine has guinea pigs and she is offering me one, she is like seven months old, all black and has very soft hair that is longer in the back, I have seem some show guinea pigs that have very long hair I would like to know if she could get like that some day?? my friend had given her a little hair cut to keep her cleaner, still I see her hair a little longer than other guinea pigs, I don't remember if she has a forelock, my friend has another one a male that does have a forelock but his hair is a little bit harder, please let me know if she could be that type of long hair guinea pig, and if I was to keep her, what should I keep in mind before accepting her? I read that too much vegetables can give them diarrhea is this true and if so what should I feed her, and how often could I give vegetables, what should I feed her and what should I keep in mind to keep her nice and healthy.
thank you very much!!

Answer
Hi Frovemabag

Its hard for me to comment on the breed type without seeing her. Is there a way of you sending me a picture if I were to give you my email address?

Certainly types of vegetables cause diarrhea such as large amounts of lettuce, cucumber and watery stuff. Generally, a varied and balanced diet, dry food with added vitamins and access to hay is what is required.
