My hamster might be getting sick

Ok... my 4 year old hamster (I took really good care of them) Joey is getting goop in her eyes and she cant open them without assistence.... is this a sign of her getting sick?

       This could be do to allergies, infection, injury to eyes or cheek pouch or bedding.  I suggest you change to low dust aspen bedding and keep her in a dark room (this is to protect her eyes). Do not handle her more than absolutely necessary. If her symptoms persist or worsen then she should be seen by a vet.
