Question
My hamsters wheel is very squeaky, though I don't mind the noise. I just want to know will the squeaking sound harm the hamsters ear drums?

Answer
Hi Amy,

High-pitched, loud noises can harm a hamster's sensitive ears.  If you're using a metal wheel, you can spray a tiny bit of WD-40 on the spoke - just make sure to thoroughly clean off any excess.  Also, since metal wheels have rungs that can hurt the hamster's feet, I would encourage you to either get a new solid wheel, or you can try this trick: Cut a piece of plain white typing paper into strips (the strips should be the same width as the wheel).  Then, thread the paper throughout the rungs.  This way, the wheel will be safer and more comfortable for your hamster, and you won't have to buy a new wheel (though you'll have to replace the paper once in a while).

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask :)
