Question
I bought two "male" roborovskis and now have a litter of three pups. I did separate the dad as he was getting treated rough by femla after birth. What are the options later if wish to give them some company. Can Dad be kept with male babies and Mum with females?   babies

Answer
Dear Helen,
thank you for your question.
It's worth a try, but you need to keep an eye on them because it's possible that they will start to fight. Keeping dwarf hamsters in groups in captivity often doesn't work out, especially once the hamsters are older than a few months, but even groups or pairs that have lived together for more than a year may suddenly start to fight. They should have plenty of room, hiding places and multiple wheels and food bowls (or you can scatter the food in the bedding).

The female may already be pregnant again, they can mate again directly after giving birth. The female babies can stay with her, though, and may even help with raising the babies.

I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer
