HOW TO STOP MILK PRODUCTION

hi my lhasa had a single healthy pup almost 9 wks ago. the puppy has now gone to live with her new owner. the questionn i have is, because she had a single pup my dog was only using i teet. the puppy has been gone for four days and she is just so full of milk. is there anyway i can help her. she holds her back leg up because she is so full.
i wondered about hot cloths, but would this encourage more milk.

Hi Lisa. Yes, warm compresses would encourage more milk. You can try cool compresses, and reduce her food/water intake slightly. This will help with the milk production. You can also ask your vet. There's suppose to be a shot out that helps with this. I can't for the life of me right now remember what it's name is. My friend who breeds small dogs, had this same problem. She used a small t-shirt to put on the dog. It helped to give support to the super large breasts, making the dog move about more comfortably. Kind of like a doggie bra. :-) Good luck!
