Question
Hello,

Our Golden had puppies on New Years Day!  This is our first litter, and I am unsure when these pups should begin eating any kind of food.  Should I be giving them a water bowl or any kind of mushy food yet?  Right now they are nursing all the time.  Mama is beginning to leave the box a little bit more....I think she need her space sometimes!
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Karie

The pups can start solids at three weeks.   Started with a good brand of canned dog food (that's the easy). Add a little bit of kibble.

You have to place the pups in the dog food until they get the hang of it.  And then send the Momma in to clean up the leftovers.

You can take the Mom out for a couple of hours a day, just to give her a break.

Good luck.
