Question
i started breeding pomeranians. i love the breed & i have owned poms for most of my life, however this is my first time wanting to breed. i own exceptional quality poms & the puppies are the most beautiful i have ever seen! this is my poms second litter & i love her & i dont want to over breed her, what is the limit i can breed her safely? she has never had a problem delivering her pups & is a wonderful mom!

Answer
Hi Victoria

Any quality female used for breeding should be on the top kibble, supplemented with raw, vitamins, and oils.  This will keep her in tip top shape, and be passed on to her pups.

Letting a female rest between breedings (typically one or two seasons, or if you are going to breed her back to back, letting her rest for a year or more after) will help.

Personally, I think 5 or 6 is when retirement should happen.

Good luck
