Dashound pup

my dashound pup is 5 months old.however he is not so playful and wants to sleep all the time.He is scared of other dogs and also does not bark. Please let me know what is wrong with him.

First I would question the dog food he's on.   Some dogs can process the preservatives in the and the reaction comes out in various ways.  

Second I would check him for worms. And if everything checks out, start socializing him immediately!!!  Take him to pet stores, for car rides, get him out to meet people and put him in new situations but DO NOT pick him up if he gets scared, let him figure every situation out for himself so that he can become more confident and trusting.
