my Labrador just gave birth

Question

        Chloe is still seeming to show signs of some contractions while nursing her puppies, she is drinking water, and taking good care of puppies but I am concerned maybe she  still has a pup up inside her ? I took my hand and went somewhat up inside her and felt around but not sure what it would feel like if a pup was there.
    Or could it just maybe be her uterus is contracting since nursing has begun ?
       I would appreciate any insight you could share with me. Thanks,

Hi Cherylanne. If she's still having contractions and is not producing a puppy or an after birth, then you need to take her to the vet and let him give her the clean out shot. This will make sure that everything is out of her so she doesn't get a serious infection. Sometimes they may get so tired during whelping that they simply can't expel the last pup. Or, a placenta may have been left inside. This shot will usually clean everything out, and mom will be good to go.
