breeding my shih tzu bitch for the first time

i have been told it is ok to breed shih tzus from 1 years of age, is this true? what is the best age to start breeding my shih tzu?

Each female should be taken on an individual basis.  Temperament, health, maturity (mental and physical) should all be taken into account.

Also her heat cycles.  If she went into heat at say 8 months, and again at 16, her second heat would be fine.
