Question
We have a 11 mo. yorkie pretty sure she is pregnant; we are not sure what kind of dog got a hold of her, Should we take her to our vet to make sure & will they be able to tell us how far along she is?

Answer
Hi Carol.  If you have a good idea of when she was in heat, you can, with somewhat accuracy, determine how far along she is.   Below is a link to a Whelping Calendar that I use and love.

http://www.debbiejensen.com/date.html

Just type in the date you mated your female, at the top, and the calendar will print out a complete - week by week- listing of what you should expect and when.

In your case, where you do not know the breed or size of the male that mated with your Yorkie, I feel that having her examined by your veterinarian would be a great idea.  There might be a possibility that she will need a C-Section, if the puppies are too large.

You might also want to read some of my answers, posted on this website, to others that have had questions about breeding and whelping.  I think you might find so of my advice helpful.

Good luck, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,
