Question
Hello,

I have a 5yr old pug that was Breed the 19th, 21st & 23rd of Jan.  She has had two previous successful litters.  This is going to be her last.  As with both litters in the past, she has come down with a urinary tract infections, was put on 14days of Clavamox on Jan 29th.  The increased urination seemed to be going away.  However, Last Thursday 2/12 I noticed some light brown discharge from her Vulva.  I took her back to the Vet on Friday 2/13 and they said that she still had a urinary tract infection and the discharge was most likely related to that and not to worry and put her back on Clavamox for another 14 days.  Her bleeding has still not stopped. She has no fever, is eating fine, and acting fine. Her discharge look like that of old blood, however you can see hints of red in it.  There is really no odor other then a blood smell and so not see any pus.  Any suggestions of what is going on or what I need to do would be of great help, I'm getting really worried.

Answer
Hi Kelly.  I'm sorry but without having a urine sample I can not tell you if she has an urinary infection or if something else is going on with your Pug.

Did your vet take a urine sample?  If not, then I suggest that you insist that one is taken and it wouldn't hurt to have a blood sample taken as well.

Good luck and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,
Penny DiLoreto
