Bloodhound breeding

Question
My boyfriend has a pair of bloodhounds.  His female came into heat last week but they haven't bred yet as far as we know.  They are in a huge six foot high pen.  This morning he checked on them at around 9:30 and they were in the pen and she was standing for him.  We checked on them again around 11:00 and the gate was wide open and they weren't in the pen.  He called for them and both bloodhounds and the neighbor's male pitt bull all came running into the house.  The pitt was trying to get to her.  We got the bloodhounds back into the pen and reinforced the gate lock so they can't open it and sent the pitt back home.  They weren't back in the pen for five minutes before they bred and got locked up.  My question is do you think there's a chance that the pitt got to her before we got them penned back up?  Would she have allowed the bloodhound to breed her that soon after?  The pitt is quite a bit shorter than she is and it usually takes the bloodhound two or three tries before he can get in.  Any information you can give me will be appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
HI KAREN
I WOULD WANT A DNA RUN TO DETERMINE THE FATHER OF THE LITTER IF I WERE BUYING SINCE THIS HAPPENED AS I KNOW OF POODLES SCALLING WIRE TO BREED THROUGH TO A BEAGLE OR WHATEVER.
BREEDING IS NOT CHANGEABLE TO BE ONE HUNDRED PER CENT WHO BRED WHEN A FEMALE IN HEAT IS RUNNING WITH TWO MALES, I WOULD CALL FOR DNA.
IT IS TRICKY BUSINESS BREEDING DOGS AND ONE MIGHT BE SO SURPRISED WHAT CAN HAPPEN AND WILL, SMALL TINY DOGS FIND A WAY TO GET TO DOGS IN WIRE KENNELS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY REALIABLE SOOURCES THIS HAS HAPPENED SO DO NOT COUNT ON THE TIE THAT OCCURRED AND THE DAD HAVE TEST RUN IF YOUR SELLING FOR U COULD RUN INTO A BIG PROBLEM DOWN THE ROAD.]

MALES SHOULD BE DNA ANYHOW FOR BREEDING.
